Security Window Film

The highest-value glass hardening there is: multi-layer film bonded to your existing windows, anchored to the frame, engineered to turn a 5-second break-in into minutes of loud, visible failure.

Real footage — that’s Mike swinging, at a manufacturer demo: it breaks. It holds. That’s the product.

The Problem

Annealed glass fails in one swing.

Standard storefront and office glass offers effectively zero delay. One strike and an intruder has a clean opening — most smash-and-grab crews are in and out before any alarm response is even dispatched. Los Angeles and Orange County retail corridors see this nightly.

Security film changes the outcome. The glass still breaks — but it stays together as a tough, anchored membrane that has to be beaten out of the frame piece by piece. That noise, time, and visibility is what actually stops burglaries: in our experience, burglars give up fast when the opening holds.

  • 4–15 mil standard constructions; riot-grade stacked systems (RiotLite®) at 27–41 mil
  • Mechanical or wet-glaze attachment anchors film to the frame
  • Also mitigates flying glass in earthquakes, impacts & blasts
  • Combine with solar film performance in a single product

Spec Levels

Good, better, best — matched to your threat.

We're brand-independent: these tiers can be filled by any major manufacturer's line. You'll see data sheets side by side before you sign anything.

TierTypical constructionBest forWhat it does
Good 7–8 mil film, edge-bonded Offices, homes, upper floors Holds fragments on breakage; deters opportunistic entry; earthquake glass-fall mitigation.
Better 12–15 mil multi-layer + wet-glaze attachment Storefronts, ground-floor glazing, schools Meaningful forced-entry delay — the film stays anchored to the frame under repeated strikes.
Best 15 mil + mechanical attachment, or step up to DefenseLite® High-value retail, pharmacies, repeat-target locations Maximum film-based delay; where the threat justifies it, we quote retrofit glazing alongside.

Film alone is not a forced-entry-rated barrier. Where codes, insurers, or the threat demand rated protection, see DefenseLite® & BulletShield®.

Questions

Security film FAQ.

Will security film make my windows burglar-proof?

No film makes glass impenetrable — anyone who claims otherwise is selling. What film does is add delay, noise, and visibility, which is what makes intruders quit. For rated forced-entry or ballistic protection, we install DefenseLite® and BulletShield® retrofit systems.

What is an attachment system and do I need one?

An attachment system bonds the filmed glass to the window frame — either a structural silicone bead (wet glaze) or a mechanical batten. Without it, a broken filmed pane can be pushed out of the frame in one piece. For ground-floor forced-entry protection, we almost always spec one; for fragment-retention and upper floors, edge-bonded film is often enough.

Can I get security and solar performance in one film?

Yes — most major manufacturers make combination films that pair 8–15 mil security constructions with heat- and glare-rejecting coatings. One install, both benefits. We'll spec options across brands.

How long does installation take?

A typical storefront is done in a day, usually after hours so you never close. Larger programs are phased around your operations. Film cures over a short period during which slight haze is normal.
